The Strings and Steps festival of the year 2013, held at the Sathya Sai Auditorium in New Delhi, was the first major program of the foundation. This first festival of Strings and Steps was an introduction to the foundation and its work. The program show cased the amalgamation of Indian classical Dance and Music. The program included a stunning performance by the Strings and Steps Performing group, Shri Neel Ranjan Mukherjee playing the Hawaiian Guitar, Ustad Akram Khan and Zuheb Ahmed Khan on the table, Varis Khan on Sarangi and Vocal, and Sangeeta Mukherjee, who performed a Kathak Recital that enthralled the audience.
Maestro Ustad Akram Khan also performed a mesmerizing Tabla Solo, accompanied by Varis Khan on Sarangi, and Shekhar Ganeshan on harmonium. The legendary Maestro Pandit Debu Chaudhuri also gave an enthralling performance with his Sitar, accompanied by Ustad Rashid Mustafa Thirakwa on Tabla.
One of the unique features of the Strings and Steps festival of 2013 was the beautiful and captivating performance given by the children of All India Prakash Society, which is an NGO society that helps marginalized societies.
